Samsung asked all global partners to stop sales and exchanges of Note7 and all users to keep them off until further notice
Samsung has asked all global partners to stop selling and exchanging the Galaxy Note7 until further notice while conducting a deep investigation about the recent multiple reports of explosion of these devices.
Here is the original press release message from Samsung:
“We are working with relevant regulatory bodies to investigate the recently reported cases involving the Galaxy Note7. Because consumers’ safety remains our top priority, Samsung will ask all carrier and retail partners globally to stop sales and exchanges of the Galaxy Note7 while the investigation is taking place.
We remain committed to working diligently with appropriate regulatory authorities to take all necessary steps to resolve the situation. Consumers with either an original Galaxy Note7 or replacement Galaxy Note7 device should power down and stop using the device and take advantage of the remedies available.”
The statement is not very encouraging, as it does not give a time estimate of the current investigation and also asks all customers with a Note7 (original or replacemente) to turn it off and not using the device “and take advantage of the remedies available”, ¿What remedies are available? Samsung do not specify in their statement.
As reported by Reuters, there have been some reports of Note7 replacements explosions.
This undoubtedly is the worst scandal that has engulfed the famous South Korean company in years. Hopefully the conclusion of this investigation will come soon and with a viable solution for all those who acquired a Note7.
