Andy Whitfield, the actor who gave life to Spartacus dies at his 39

Andy Whitfield, the actor who starred in ‘Spartacus: Blood and Sand’ and then left the show for having been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL), died today in Sydney, Australia. He was 39.

Whitfield’s wife in a statement called her husband a “beautiful young warrior” who died on a “sunny Sydney morning” in the “arms of his loving wife.”

Andy was preparing for the 2nd season of the show when he was diagnosed with the disease 18 months ago. Rest in peace.
