Paramount Pictures halts screenings in Venezuela
Paramount Pictures, a unit of Viacom Inc., said this Friday it would stop temporarily the screening of their new movies in Venezuela, without giving further details or explanations.
“Paramount reports that, until further notice, it is postponing the dates of its screenings in Venezuela,” Paramount Pictures said in a statement.
“We offer our most sincere apologies for the annoyance or inconvenience this may cause. Paramount appreciates your interest in the titles, which is why we will disclose more information when we have it.”
Company officials in the United States could not be reached for comment.
These are bad news for the Venezuelan big screen, now that are close the releases of films such as Capitan América, Super 8, Misión Imposible 4 and Tintin.
Esperemos que este problema se solvente pronto. Algunos rumores hablan de que los inconvenientes tiene parte que ver con el estricto control de cambio que actualmente impone el gobierno en Venezuela, pero no hay ninguna información confirmada al respecto.
Hopefully this problem will be resolved soon. Some rumors speak this measure has to do with strict exchange controls currently imposed by the government in Venezuela, but there is no confirmed information about it.
