Lytro invents the camera to shoot now and focus later

Sounds crazy, but that’s how it works. Lytro is revolutionizing the world of photography, inventing a camera capable of shoot images that you can focus later, the Light Field Camera.

The magic works by processing the “light field” of the scene with special sensor called a microlens array in the camera. This makes possible focus even after shooting the pictures.

The best way to explain the result is manipulating this image gallery courtesy of Lytro. By clicking on different parts of each image you can change the focus.
